The runway mat has been installed and looks good. Real smooth and tight. Although it is a little short for hot landings, there is plenty of room for take offs, and smooth dirt on each end of the runway. We are currently checking on more mat to accommodate the hot landings. The "junk pile" south of the pit area has been moved and spectator parking moved farther from the runway. We are now redoing the pit area fence and hope to start on the awning soon. The new sign is up on Highway 60. It can readily been seen coming from the west.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHECK OUT THE PYLON COURSE, OR FLYING FIELD, GIVE ME A CALL AND WE CAN PROBABLY "GIT ER DONE", AS I AM NOW RETIRED AND HOME MOST OF THE TIME. IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN PAMPA AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE FIELD, COME ON BY, AS I ALSO LIVE AT THE FLYING SITE.

LATER,
RONNY

UPDATE: (11/22/08)  The awning posts and framing are set. The sheeting will be installed shortly. The entrance road to the flying field has been rerouted to prevent entering the field directly in line with the runway, and bleachers have been installed for spectators.

UPDATE: (1/28/09)   The awning is finished and we have added 2 new starting tables. We are currently working on an entirely enclosed building for frequency control, tech building, etc. New year and we are discussing events schedule for 2009. If interested in any special events or suggestions, contact us and we will discuss any ideas.

UPDATE: (3/12/09) 50 feet of new pit fence has been added. Further work on smoothing and cleaning the pit area continues. We are flying on a regular basis now, weather permitting, and have numerous spectators pulling in from the highway. Membership is growing so more money is becoming available to speed up inprovements. We will be discussing a spring event at our next meeting, (1st Thursday in April) with a new meeting time of 6:30 PM. Any and all ideas for an event are welcome.

7/5/09  A tornado came through our area and did a considerable amount of damage to our club house and field. We have recovered reasonably well, but the pit fence is gone. The 4' X 8' sign on the highway was also blown down, so watch closely for our entrance to the field. The attached garage on my house at the field was severly damaged and as soon as I finish rebuilding the garage I will replace the sign. Scott Hartman , of Fritch, came out to the field on July 3rd to test fly his new Stinger Q40, from Don Stegall, (House of Pylon.com). Wind was steady and in excess of 20 MPH according to the wind sock. It stood straight out all afternoon. Scott was not detered, the Stinger flew straight, steady and very fast! I was very inpressed with the smooth and stable flight of the Stinger, but absolutely amazed at the speed the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 pushed the plane. Ayone interested in pylon racing should look into the Sport Q40 class. Don's Stinger, in the fiberglass version is very reasonable @$125.00, and the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 is much cheaper than the over $300 racing engines. This class is probably (I'm guessing) 40 to 50 MPH faster than the Club 40 class, but the appearance of stability and sound flight is far and away above the Club 40. There is growing interest in implementing the Sport Q40 class. An exibition of this class was flown at both of the races held in Kansas this year in a effort to get the class going. Scott has a build thread for the Stinger on the RC Universe website. Surf on over there and check it out.
